Experiences and links...

In October 2009 we visited the Gambia again, following our first visit to this country in 2008. During our holiday in this incredible nice and friendly country, where people have time for you, we met Joseph Gomez (our guide) in 2008.

Joseph is a classic example of all Gambians with his friendly smile and helpfulness. We respect the way he has guided us through the Gambia and showed us nice things very much. Nothing was too much for him and he paid attention to excursions arranged for us. And all this in a Gambian way!

In the Gambia consists much poverty, unprecedented in Western Europe but Gambians are very pleased with what they have and particularly see the beautiful things of life. Especially the inland faces with poverty, but they're very flexible in dealing with it.
We advise everyone to visit the Gambia for the beauty of the country regarding the people, the nature and the climate. Please note you'll get the recommended vaccinations / medication that's needed for Africa. And if you go, we strongly recommend Joseph. He is an expert and a reliable guide for the period you'll be staying in the Gambia!

Kind regards,

Gambia, the country of people with a smile, and so it was. It was very nice weather, the people were friendly, but they are very poor. Everyone should experience this once in his lifetime.

Our guide Joseph showed us much of the inland and culture. He guided us everywhere, like when visiting a hospital, the mangroves, crocodiles, monkeys, we cannot even explain all the things we have seen.
We also went to Kanada-camp for two days and spend the night, sleeping in huts where the locals live. During this two-day-trip we did see a lot we certainly would not want to have missed. Joseph explained everything very well and is a reliable person. He speaks perfect English. We're convinced we will return to this beautiful land, the land of the smile and of Joseph.

Regards,
Henk and Lilianne (The Netherlands)
